Becky Bettesworth Supports Friends of South Devon College Charity Dinner

Becky Bettesworth supports Friends of South Devon College

It was a pleasure to donate two of my Enjoy Today A2 Posters and Cushions to the Friends of South Devon College Charity Gala Dinner last week to raise money for the Positive Intervention Hub.  Simon Hulstone was the chef for the evening and Paul Bettesworth of Bettesworths in Torquay was the auctioneer.

They raised over £9,300. My two auction prizes won £600 which is a fantastic amount of money.  Thank you to all the bidders.

Friends of South Devon College helped fund and set up the Positive Intervention Hub to assist students in need. The Hub is a place where students in distress can attend for support and this took 850 referrals in its first term, a significant increase which appears to be exponential. Students in need have the opportunity to shower, wash their clothes and have a free meal. They provide free breakfasts for those who cannot afford to pay and this runs at around 90 students per week. They fund enrichment visits to those with no money to enhance their education. They offer transport to and from college and have winter clothes grants available. They have in collaboration with the college funded workshops on gangs and knife crime and provided 120 hours of additional counselling for students who cannot access this elsewhere. As you might imagine these activities are expensive and raising funds was essential.

Well done to all involved in raising such a fantastic amount of money.
