It was an absolute pleasure to be asked to be one of the Judges for the Young Art Devon competition together with Dan Wheatley and David Norman. This competition is a wonderful way to encourage children's creative talents and an exciting opportunity for aspiring young artists to have their work judged by well known artists and exhibited in public.
The competition raises money for a fantastic cause which is Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens appeal.
The theme for 2019 is Our World. The children were asked to submit a picture based on this theme, on either A4 or A3 sized good quality paper in any medium. Wow, there was some fantastic entries. The children had really used the theme to create some powerful artwork. It was a privilege to be judging such high quality creative work.
The winners in each age category will have their work professionally mounted and framed. It will be exhibited at the Spanish Barn at Torre Abbey from 3rd to 5th May and will be open to the general public, with an opportunity for families and friends to attend a special private opening afternoon on the Saturday. Each picture will be available to purchase, via a silent auction, with families being given priority, so everyone will have the opportunity to own their child’s art. Any work not purchased will remain in the collection of Young Art Devon.
Please join us in supporting this wonderful new venture that will celebrate the artistic endeavours of our students whilst raising vital funds for a fantastic cause.
