Flowers for Annie

Painted in gouache, a fresh burst of colour and optimism. This joyful expressive celebration of colour, light and creativity. Built with loose, intuitive brushstrokes, I wanted the painting to evoke happiness, freedom and the simple joy that comes from creating with an open heart, allowing the colours to dance across the canvas.

The story behind the artwork - Inspired by Annie… 💗🌸

I shared a photo of the beautiful bouquet of flowers I’d picked from Amelia’s flowers, I received a comment asking, “Are you going to paint them?”

I’ll be honest… the thought hadn’t even crossed my mind! (And then I felt rather bad that it hadn’t.) But dear Annie’s comment inspired and motivated me to think… YESSSS! Of course I’d love to!

Then, almost instantly, another voice crept in… But how? Can I? Have I got the time? Will it be any good?

It’s ridiculous, isn’t it? How quickly we can doubt ourselves and question our ability instead of simply embracing the sheer joy of creating.

A few days later I hosted a beautiful Heart box evening, and I made one for myself too, sealed and set in resin. My intention was simply to connect with creating. I drew the flowers and wrote these words inside my Heart box:

“Allow yourself the time and space to truly see beauty, to feel beauty in a person, a place or a moment… and then create what you see and feel, so others can see and feel it too. Fall in love with the process, and with the connection to life, love, peace and beauty.” 💗

And then… I painted them. Here they both are. I absolutely LOVED creating them both, and they reminded me exactly why I do what I do. Sometimes all it takes is one simple comment, one little nudge, and permission to begin. 🌸✨

Thank you Annie for inspiring me to create this little painting ‘Flowers for Annie’ 🌸✨
